Surveying the Challenges

Children and youth need support from the community to successfully complete their education and live a poverty-free future

In 2013, 41,640 of those living in poverty in the metro Edmonton region were children and youth under the age of 18.

Homeless youth are approximately four times more likely to have experienced bullying than Canadian youth in general.

While the high school dropout rate in Canada now sits below 9%, for youth experiencing homelessness the rate is 53.2%. Of those who dropped out, 73.9% would like to return to school.

In a survey of students from 36 Canadian universities in 2015, the average student owed $26,819.
